劇情簡介：

FBI探員珍妮佛瑪許(黛安蓮恩 飾演)始終小心翼翼的維繫著生活步調，一方面她是精明幹練的執法人員，私底下同時兼顧著單親媽媽的責任。每天夜裡，她和搭檔葛瑞芬唐(柯林漢克斯 飾演)不停的瀏覽網頁，監視著奧勒岡州波特蘭市一帶的網路金融詐欺及性犯罪案，當他們接獲了一則恐佈網站的最新線報，這對搭檔開始緊盯一個 “一起殺人.com”的網站，對站上離奇虐殺案的真實性著手調查。

起初，大家對這個網站的誇張手法都覺得難以置信，站長將一隻貓咪黏在老鼠板上等死，攝影機對準獵物，用線上即時播出的方式吸引收視戶，迴響很快便散播至茫茫網海。由於操縱者擁有強大的網路知識技術作後盾，使得整個網站的伺服主機位置始終成謎，但兇手的屢屢挑釁洩露出這是一起波特蘭市當地的犯罪案。
