劇情簡介：

電視實境節目記者安琪拉薇達（珍妮佛卡本特飾）和史考特（史蒂夫哈里斯 飾），專門採訪深夜仍在辛勤工作的人們。這天，他們被派往洛杉磯消防隊待命，準備採訪夜班人員，卻因為深夜的一通電話，而踏入恐怖人間煉獄。

在電話通報下，他們與消防人員來到市區一棟小型公寓，警方已經抵達現場處理，這時，公寓三樓卻傳來令人毛骨悚然的尖叫聲，意外撞見這則大新聞的安琪拉和史考特，決定將這一切用攝影機紀錄下來。

當他們走進公寓勘查，首先發現的是獨自佇立黑暗中，全身血跡斑斑，以牙齒瘋狂啃咬攻擊警員的老婦人。嚇得半死的安琪拉一行人決定離開公寓，卻發現自己遭到疾病管制局隔離，所有的出口都被封閉，並由重裝警衛看守。電話、網路、電視和手機通訊全都被中斷！

受困公寓的住戶和人們很快就陷入恐慌，淒厲的慘叫聲不停自四處傳來，一具屍體從三樓墜落到眾人聚集中庭，安琪拉與攝影小組們只能抓著攝影機亂竄，前有追兵後無退路的他們，要如何逃出大樓，又會拍到什麼驚人的畫面？

Television reporter Angela Vidal (Jennifer Carpenter) and her cameraman (Steve Harris) are assigned to spend the night shift with a Los Angeles Fire Station.

After a routine 911 call takes them to a small apartment building, they find police officers already on the scene in response to blood curdling screams coming from one of the apartment units. They soon learn that a woman living in the building has been infected by something unknown.

After a few of the residents are viciously attacked, they try to escape with the news crew in tow, only to find that the CDC has quarantined the building. Phones, internet, televisions and cell phone access have been cut-off, and officials are not relaying information to those locked inside. When the quarantine is finally lifted, the only evidence of what took place is the news crew's videotape.
